"Pretty Romantic"

Girls, it's about time to fall in love with dresses, all over again.

Elegant silhouettes, soft chiffons and other delicate fabrics, full skirts and nude shoes form part of a dainty come-hither look that's one part lady and another part bombshell.

Forgivably Frilly
There is nothing more feminine and romantic than a pretty skirt. With elaborately froth layers or a flounce of lace looking utterly ethereal, you can flirt with a skirt as you sweep and float across a room. Pair a voluminous straight pleated or fluted skirt with any slim-fitting top.

Dresses, on the other hand, cut on the bias, have a wonderfuly way of skimming your curves in way that is both tasteful and tantalizing. Make sure that this frock is nicely cut, as an ill-fitting one will be anything but flattering, and may only put emphasis on the bulges you may be hiding.

Ballerina Beauty
If a statuesque neck of a ballerina is what you're after, look for dresses in silk or satin fabrics with a V or scooped necklines because they elongate the neck. Down below, you can add a flounce of lace at the hem that's inspired by the many foamy layers of a ballerina's skirt.

Antique Colors
Take yourself backwards in time by choosing an Old World color plate of pearl, butter cream, nude or tea-stained hues and washed-out blues and greens.

"Dressed to Date"

Don't have a Valentine date yet? You can still try your luck over the weekend, snag a date in one of your all-girls night outs wherein you're set to stand out in these sweet short numbers. Show your coy side in these flirty choices that'll make head turns and eventually get you booked on V-Day.

Banish pre-date jitters about what to wear and store girly dresses because you'll never know when you'll get that call.

Be a romantic
Head-to-toe ruffles are not necessary. A hint of feminity is what usually takes the cake. Pair soft tops with structured pants or skirts; long, flowing skirts with a simple top. Victorian blouses are conservative tops which will look just right with leggy bottoms, try a pair of dark formal shorts if you don't want to look like an office secretary (although the secretary look is getting a lot Hollywood patrons lately, like Jessica Alba and Katie Holmes

Be a lady
Dressing like Lil' Kim on the first date may get his attention, but it sure won't hold his affection for long. If you'd like to show some skin, do it in ladylike proportions. Try peek-a-boo styles that leave something to the imagination, crocheted sweaters, sheer tops over a tank, slit skirts, and even halter dresses that simply bare a bit of the collarbone.

Be comfortable
No need to hold your breath in tight jeans: opt for something with a bit of stretch if figure-hugging styles are your thing. Shift dresses flatter almost any figure. One of the easiest dress silhouettes to wear, the shift dress is a simple short shape that basically hang straight down from the shoulder. The lack of fullness or waist definition gives you a sleek line without lots of volume.
Depending on where he's whisking you off, you can try leg-lengthening wedges or a sandal that laces at the ankle for added foot appeal.

Get personal
First impressions last, so they say. And while you can't always design what you wear, personal touches can still be done. Whether it's your lucky charm bracelet or a groovy pin, let the real you shine through with well-thought-out pieces of accessories.

Simple ways to reveal bits of your personality
●Wear your favorite color: hues tell a lot about the wearer.
● Don a sentimental piece of jewelry (your grandmother's necklace) which are no-brainer ice breakers when you're alone with him.
● Dress in a familiar style (only a bit better).

Go Easy.
Dressing to the designer nines may be too much for a first date. Chances are, he's not going to know Manolo from Mossimo, so save your impressive designer labels for girl's night out. Remember that if you show up looking like too much of a fashion plate, he may be intimidated by your shopping prowess.)
